…and I did this summer!
As a sophomore at American University in Washington, D.C. I have spent the last year studying strategic communications, marketing and advertising. I knew early on that these were areas I wanted to focus on throughout my college career. I like to think I’m on the right track so far.
As a summer intern here at Draftfcb, I was exposed to many important aspects of the agency. Moreover, I got to help on a number of projects, including drafting press releases and presentations. My time spent at the agency will benefit me in many ways as I head back to school this month. I’ll be able to apply what I learned to various organizations I belong to on campus. Not only will I be able to market these organizations more effectively to new students, but I’ll also be more comfortable doing so. Because I learned from some of the best in the ad industry!
When I tell people about my experience at Draftfcb, I always stress how great the people are — how intelligent, welcoming, creative and funny. The people I have been fortunate enough to work with have taught me so much more than I could ever have anticipated. I tell people that no matter what I was expecting and hoping for prior to my start here, it could not have been as good as the actual experience.
Plus, I am pleased to say that my time with Draftfcb does not end at the end of my summer break. I will be a campus ambassador starting in the fall for Draftfcb, which will allow me to keep working with the agency and other summer interns around the country. As an ambassador, I’ll be connecting Draftfcb with on-campus organizations and introducing the agency to the best and brightest students. Draftfcb is looking to increase its presence on college campuses in order to reach out to students interested in advertising and to help those students on the path to success by sponsoring events and holding information sessions and mock interviews. My role in the ambassador program will allow me to continue to work with the amazing people at Draftfcb New York — and promote the agency to potential future interns and students who are interested in advertising. I couldn’t be more excited to get started!
